Jordan Henderson returns to the Premier League two years after his farewell from Liverpool FC. The 35 -year -old midfielder joins FC Brentford free of charge. Most recently, the English veteran had dissolved his contract with Ajax in Amsterdam at his own request. Henderson signed at the Bees for two years. At the Thames, the long-time LFC professional turned out to be a candidate for wishes when the departure of Christian Nørgaard (31) to city rival Arsenal became clear.

Coach Keith Andrews explained: “We took a close look at his last games to see where he is: He is still incredibly fit and incredibly motivated to achieve something in the game, even though he has already achieved a lot. Since experienced players like Christian Nørgaard, Mark Flekken and Ben Mee left the club, it was important to fill this gap.”

Andrews referred to the young squad and added: “What Jordan has is that he is one of the most influential leader of the modern Premier League era. He was at the forefront when it came to wining the title and champions league victory for a fantastic football club. So we want to be a football club.

Henderson came to Ajax in January 2024 from Al-Attifaq and completed 57 games for the Dutch record champions. Only six months earlier he had left Liverpool for a transfer of 14 million euros in the direction of Saudi Pro League after twelve years.
