Aryna Sabalenka once again missed the final at the Tennis Grand Slam tournament in Wimbledon. The world ranking listen had to give up against Amanda Anisimova in a tight match.

Wimbledon has not yet been the tournament of Aryna Sabalenka, and it stays that way. The 27 -year -old Belarusin loses her semi -finals with 4: 6, 6: 4, 4: 6 against Anisimova and can therefore still show no final on the “holy” lawn in her vita – as early as 2021 and 2023 she failed in the semi -finals. For the Anisimova placed in position 13, on the other hand, it is the first move into a Grand Slam-Finale at all.

Anisimova’s backhand causes Sabalenka problems

It was the close game that Sabalenka had predicted before the beginning. Both opponents used their explosiveness to get pressure behind the ball in the first set. It was therefore not surprising that both Sabalenka and Anisimova each won their service games. The rallies mostly took place between the basic lines, which came towards the powerful strokes of both players. Even two short interruptions during the first set did not disturb the game rhythm – some people in the stands had been dehydrated through the heat.

In the high-class tennis match, the 23-year-old Anisimova impressed with her strong backhand several times. No matter whether cross, long line or in the middle of Sabalenka, the world ranking list had problems having the sharp and powerful blows of the American. In the decisive game, Sabalenka also made a double mistake and gave the first set 4: 6 on Anisimova.

It remains tight

The second sentence kept the rhythm of the first. Anyone who had a serve could decide the game again. This only changed when Sabalenka got her first break at the stand of 4: 3. In this phase of the game, the world ranking list showed its willpower and won one or two intensive rallies. But Anisimova did not let Sabalenka’s upswing put on and stayed tuned – she tried to use her backhand more. In the end, however, the set went 6: 4 to Sabalenka.

At the beginning of the decisive sentence there were two breaks. Then the hour hit Anisimova, which kept its nerve in a gripping and narrow end section of the match. And the game of the game also fell on her side, for example with an important point gain via the network roller. Anisimova finally won the third set 6: 4. She moves into the Wimbledon final after a three-set thriller.

Revenge for French open-end

For the first time in her career, Anisimova was able to beat a number one in the world – before that she failed twice. The American also “revenge” indirectly for the round of 16 in the French Open against Sabalenka. Now the 23-year-old is looking forward to her first Grand Slam final: “It doesn’t feel real.” On Saturday, IGA Swiatek, who won the second semi -finals against Belinda Bencic, won in two sets.
