Bayer Leverkusen reached the 2nd main round in the DFB Cup with a win with the regional league team SG Sonnenhof Großaspach. The game had to be interrupted for a long time due to rain and hail.
Leverkusen had a little trouble, but in the end we earned 4-0 (1-0) against the fourth division club. The goals scored and Patrik Schick (32nd), Arthur (74th), Christian Kofane (84th) and Alex Grimaldo (87th).
Game had to be interrupted for 40 minutes
SG Sonnenhof – league leaders of the fourth -class regional league Südwest – had the first good opportunity for the game. Mert Tasdelen Flach shot from a distance secured Leverkusen’s goalkeeper Mark Flekken in the follow -up (9th).
In the Aspach, which was located north of Stuttgart, it has rained since the game started, then hail was added, which is why referee Michael Bacher had to interrupt the game in the 17th minute. The wind blew the rain under the grandstand roofs, many fans left their places. Larger puddles formed on the square. Several helpers tried to push the water off the square or distribute the water more evenly. It only continued after more than 40 minutes of interruption.
Leverkusen with the leadership, Großaspach misses the equalization
As a result, Großaspach kept up well, but powerless in a situation. Amine Adli had flanked from the left, in the middle climbed higher than Antonis Aidonis and hit his head (32nd).
Leverkusen cheered the 1-0
Shortly before the break, the fourth division team had the great chance to equalize: Aidonis heads a too long flank backwards, where captain Volkan Celiktas headed on the goal – but chic saved on the line. On the other hand, Jarell Quansah had the chance to the second Leverkusen goal, but goalkeeper Maximilian Reule just fended off (42nd). The half -time whistle took place more than 85 minutes after kick -off.
Großaspach pressed the equalization again after a break: Michael Kleinschrodt failed from an acute angle (54th), Loris Maier shot past the goal right after a counterattack (59.). Then Leverkusen made the decision with a playfully fine goal: Alex Grimaldo put on the left in the penalty area for Ernest Poku, who alluded to the better standing Arthur – and he only had to complete to 2: 0 (74.).
In the end, Großaspach breaks apart
Leverkusen then played out his superiority, and frustration spread at Großasland. Großaspach’s captain Celiktas still saw the yellow-red card (66.), Merit Tasdelen even the red card (82nd) because of a rough foul game.
Christian Kofane met Aleix Garcia for 3-0 for Bayer (84th). Lukas Stoppel then also fouls in the penalty area, the penalty converted Grimaldo to 4: 0 (87th).
