Administrative hassle
He gets a deep sigh. “If I hadn’t gotten sick, I would have passed and I would have finished quietly. I always enjoy doing it, and actually still. But I just can’t stand it anymore. Long standing, that will no longer work. And keeping my head there is also becoming increasingly difficult.”
What breaks him the most in addition to his physical condition is the mental pressure. “You don’t get tired of pills and packages, but think about it, think about it. Everything that comes with it. If someone is sick, for example: forms, weekly reports. In the past that was simpler.”
The world is also hardened, he explains. “A few years ago a woman came in to hide. He was chased by a group of boys, who sprayed her and spit her to her. We were sometimes called names around Sinterklaas and Christmas, because there was no suit. Then I also think: I don’t feel like it anymore.”
