Within the Make America Great Again movement, rare rebellion broke out against the Trump government this week, on its decision to close the legal file around the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Trumpist influencers, who had wanted online theories about Epstein Uinnenten for years, speak of a cover -up. Their criticism of the government, especially expressed through tweets, is actively fueled by platform owner Elon Musk, now that he wants to come up with his own political party.

The president is clearly not waiting for all the criticism, but hardly knows how to nip it. When asked about the affair, he responded on Tuesday during a press moment: “So much happens. Why are people still talking about this guest, this creep? Incredible.”

In the meantime, the affair has reached the heart of his government. FBI director Kash Patel and his deputy director Dan Bongino-both formerly Maga-influencers, who spread plenty of Epstein plots-would not threaten if Minister Pam Bondi of Justice would not resign. The controversial extreme right-wing twitterer Laura Loomer-already invited to the White House by Trump for advice-also calls for Bondi’s CongĂ©.

Trump eagerly blew the conspiracy theory around Jeffrey Epstein, now his government concludes: there was no pedophile complot

It was Bondi’s Department that announced on Monday that after “in -depth investigation”, together with the federal investigation FBI, it had not discovered a conspiracy around Epstein’s death. The financier and jet set figure was found dead in August 2019 in his New York cell. There he was just on suspicion of years of abuse of more than two hundred minor ‘masseurs’. Bondi released an almost eleven -hour video from a surveillance camera from prison who had to prove that no one could have put Epstein’s suicide in stage. There were also no accomplices who could be prosecuted.

Customer list

Last year, Trump campaigned for the presidency with the promise to reveal the customer list of Epstein. Like other members of his entourage, from his running mate JD Vance to the eldest son Don Jr., he so eagerly fed to the theory that Epstein was murdered in his cell, because he would like to release the list of names of powerful men for whom he arranged minors to sexually abuse. Epstein would have filmed them during sex parties in his houses in New York, Florida and a Caribbean private island. The influential Podcaster and ex-Foxnews star Tucker Carlson raced the storyline this week that Epstein did all this as a secret agent of the Israeli security service Mossad.

Epstein indeed had many high -ranking acquaintances and friends, from British royals to billionaires, including Donald Trump. These excellent connections also ensured that he was treated extremely leniently by the judiciary in Florida at the beginning of this century when his systematic abuse there was already prosecuted.

Within Trumpism, his death became part of decades of circulating radical-right and partly anti-Semitic conspiracy stories. Top Democrats, including the Clintons, Businessmen and Hollywood stars, form a ‘cabal‘(Network) of high -ranking pedophiles, devil worshipers and baby blood drinkers.

Boomerang

Now that Trump ministers have also had to acknowledge that such a conspiracy does not exist, the Maga-Wantrouwen turns against the government like a boomerang. The authenticity of the video of the cell door is questioned (because clumsy mounted and with one missing minute). The friend of FBI director Patel was made suspicious (because much younger, and working for a news website that was set up by an Israeli ex-spy). Left -wing twitterers rang the suggestion that Trump himself belonged to Epstein’s customers and therefore made his ‘list’ disappear.

Musks Political ambitions

On X this week in Trumpist circles it was about little other than Epstein. For owner Elon Musk, the Maga-revolge offers opportunities. Since his political alliance with Trump spectacularly splashed last month, he has been able to focus on his many companies for a few weeks, which was struggling with the necessary maintenance after his time in Washington.

The latter turned out to be several times again this week. For example, when his chatbot grock was given anti-Semitic hallucinations after Musk had asked the AI protocol for ‘less political correctness’. A day later, the top woman of X suddenly left, in which Grok is embedded. In the meantime, Tesla’s share price remains under pressure due to falling sales in Europe in particular. Only Musks Lieveling company SpaceX runs, thanks to his satellite network Starlink, really energetic, according to a new share issue.

Yet Musk now wants to go back to politics. After the congress took Trumps Large Budget and Tax Act last week, he reported to set up his own political party, the America Party. Not to become a president himself (he is not allowed as a born South African), but to finally force politics to more budget discipline and even more tech-friendly policy.

With million -donations, Musk hopes to conquer a few seats with the following congress elections of November 2026, both in the house and the Senate. Because Democrats and Republicans are gaining tormentary majorities in those rooms, Musks could claim a decisive voice.

Many Americans have been tired of their two parties for a long time and that they mainly support the least poor option in elections. Nevertheless, ‘third’ parties or candidates rarely know how to penetrate the American electoral system. Moreover, the rigging of a national party infrastructure is a large bureaucratic task and Musk will be able to encounter the legal opposition of Trumps party. The Republicans miss all the money from the man who donated their previous election cycle 290 million, but now also have to fear that these voters will lure away from them.

Among Trump-Loyalists, voices are already going on to nip Musk’s political adventure in the bud. Someone who argues the loudest for this is former spin doctor Steve Bannon. Even when Musk and Trump were still friends, he criticized the influence of the tech entrepreneur on the new government. This showed a battle between the more national-populistic wing in Maga and the camp of the techbros.

Revenge

During a Trumpist youth event, Friday, Bannon again argued to “the illegal foreigner” Musk take the American nationality and to deport to South Africa. Trump said earlier “that we should look at this” and also alluded that he was his former First Buddy could exclude from public procurement, although NASA space agency is highly dependent on Musks rocket company SpaceX.

Bannon now sees opportunities for revenge. That is how he called it on Friday “my only purpose of life to destroy Musk.” He also announced that the billionaire during his high-rising fight with Trump last month snarled that the president would also figure in the Epstein file (an X message that he later removed).

Risks for Trump

Since Musk took over the then Twitter autumn 2022 and renamed X, it has grown into the village square of the Maga MEATTE. It is precisely here that the Epstein complex machine continues to run at full speed, it makes it extra difficult for Trump to get the mind back in the bottle. Musks Power over the platform also makes it extra risky for the president to tackle the tech billionaire through his business interests or his American passport.

Musk keeps Trumpist dissatisfaction with Epstein alive with a few tweets a day. Because, he tweeted this week: “How can you expect people to trust Trump if he doesn’t release the Epstein files?”
