Advice IMG: ‘Include Annerveenschekanaal in value reduction scheme’

Annerveenschekanaal should no longer fall outside the so-called depreciation scheme of the Institute for Mining Damage Groningen (IMG). That is what the IMG thinks.

With this proposal, the IMG meets the wishes of the parliamentary committee of inquiry that investigated natural gas extraction. The committee wrote in the report that claims handling should be made ‘milder, more humane and easier’.

At a press conference in Groningen, IMG director Hans Houdijk said that broader claims handling will cost a total of between 5 and 10 billion euros.

In the context of ‘milder, more humane and easier’, adding Annerveenschekanaal to the value reduction scheme fits, says the IMG. The depreciation scheme compensates for the depreciation of homes in the earthquake zone. Residents can also receive a subsidy of 10,000 euros for improving and making their home more sustainable.

Annerveenschekanaal has so far just missed the boat, based on the zip code. That while the neighboring villages all fall within the depreciation scheme.
