The Tonckensdierenpark is very popular with many residents of Zuidwolde, children and residents of the Tonckenshuys. But the animal park stands for a challenging period. After 17 years full of love, care and lots of kibble, manager Jeroen Tibben, who also did the care of the animals 3 days a week, the Tonckens animal park says hello.
At the beginning of this year, Tibben already indicated that he was ready for something else, and from 1 June it is officially time. A new manager is already ready to take over his duties, but the team is not yet complete. The park is still looking for enthusiastic volunteers for the weekend.
No one has to worry during the week: four regular volunteers will take care of the animals with a lot of love and attention. But at the weekend it is a bit too quiet for the time being. The animal park therefore hopes for new animal lovers who like to help with the care of the animals in the park. “In the morning it is about feeding and taking care of the animals, and closing the lofts again in the evening,” says Jan Wever. He is secretary and treasurer of the animal park.
The Tonckensdierenpark is a popular place with young and old. There is always something to experience between the rabbits, goats, pigeons, birds and chickens. “The chickens are currently not allowed outside due to the lifting obligation,” Wever explains. But despite the fact that the chickens are unfortunately not allowed to roam outside for the time being, they still make it a pleasant place in the night loft. “They are having a good time there,” laughs Wever.
The interest in helping is already there, even from the youngest corner. A twelve -year -old volunteer has already reported. “He can’t get started completely independently, the responsibility is too great for that,” explains Wever. He is allowed to walk with an experienced volunteer.
With the departure of Tibben, a new phase is coming for the Tonckens animal park. After years of deployment of a familiar face, the care for the park will soon become a joint effort. The deployment of the volunteers is therefore indispensable.
Those who like to roll up their sleeves between the animals can register at the Tonckensdierenpark.
