Adler Mannheim celebrate main round victory in the CHL

The Adler Mannheim have secured the main round victory in the Champions Hockey League. The second-placed team in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) beat HC Kosice from Slovakia 4-1 (0-1, 2-0, 2-0) at the end of the group phase on Wednesday and will now face the Swiss from in the round of 16 SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, supposedly the easiest opponent.

David Wolf (28th), Kris Bennett (37th), Tyler Gaudet (45th) and national player Daniel Fischbuch (57th) scored Mannheim’s goals after the hosts had taken the lead through Joona Jaaskelainen (19th). According to the new mode, the Eagles, who won five of their six games, will be the first in the round of 16 to meet the 16th in the preliminary round.

The German champions Red Bull Munich and ERC Ingolstadt are also in the round of 16. Ingolstadt will face the Swedish champions Växjö Lakers in 15th place. Munich’s opponent has not yet been determined. The round of 16 first legs will take place on November 14th and 15th.
