Adil behind the camera, little brother Amir on the front stage: World premiere ‘Rebel’ in Cannes is a family moment

“A natural talent that makes everyone cry. Even me, and that never happens.” Adil El Arbi (33) is once not a Hollywood actor, but his own kinsman: brother Amir. “As a 6-year-old, he reenacted skits from ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ at home, today the lead role in our film.” Barely 11 and zero acting experience, but already the star of ‘Rebel’, the latest print by him and Bilall Fallah, which had its world premiere last night. “Hopefully my acting debut will open doors”, says Amir. “Because ‘being a brother’ doesn’t give you mega benefits, you know. They are extra strict with me.”
