Event organizers can apply for the subsidy scheme for Additional Allowance for Events 2021 (ATE) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate from Monday 28 February 2022 09:00. to request through the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). The scheme closes on May 31, 2022 at 5:00 PM.

The ATE is intended for event organizers who were not eligible for the Events Guarantee Scheme (TRSEC) in 2021. For example, because the event was organized for the first time in 2021 or because they did not have event insurance. The ATE reimburses 100% of the costs incurred for events that could not take place between 10 July and 31 December 2021 due to an event ban by the central government. The ATE is only intended for publicly accessible events that meet the subsidy conditions.

Subcontractors and suppliers

When the event is canceled between July 10 and December 31, 2021 due to an event ban by the national government, organizers may state the costs incurred for reimbursement. These are, for example, payments to subcontractors and suppliers of the event. The ATE reimburses costs incurred between 20 January 2021 and the event ban for the organization of the event. Fixed costs that are separate from the event, such as the rent of business premises and wage costs for permanent staff, are not reimbursed with the ATE.

Extension of the event arrangements

On December 14, 2021, the government announced that the Additional Allowance for Events (ATE) and the event guarantee scheme (TRSEC) will be extended until September 30, 2022. With the extension, the ATE and TRSEC will be merged into one new scheme in 2022. This new scheme will be called the Subsidy Event Guarantee 2022 (SEG). The SEG offers organizers the certainty that part of their costs will be reimbursed in the event of cancellation due to an event ban by the national government. This allows organizers to hedge part of the financial risk. The following conditions will apply to the SEG.

  • The subsidy for events during an event ban in the first quarter of 2022 is 90%, with the option of a loan for the remaining 10%.
  • The subsidy for events during an event ban in the second and third quarters of 2022 will be 80%, with the option of a loan for the remaining 20%.
  • An interest rate of 2% applies to the loan.

The SEG 2022 is currently being worked out. More information will follow shortly.
