The Polish legend does not remember his early 2000s style well.
Adam Malysz is not sad that the earring era is behind. PDO
Hill legend Adam Malysz47, is one of Poland’s great sports heroes.
In the peak years of the early 2000s, the man’s trademark became a mustache and an earring.
The mustache has remained, but he gave up wearing the earring quite early on.
In an interview with TVP Sport, Malysz says that the reason is a violent crash in Salt Lake City in 2004.
The jewelry accidentally ended up in the toilet bowl.
– The Americans took it off when I was taken unconscious for an MRI. The earring was wrapped in toilet paper and put in my pocket. I didn’t find out it wasn’t just a piece of paper until long after it was flushed down the drain.
Malysz had made the jewelry himself.
– We pierced our ears with things that were, to put it mildly, embarrassing. It was fashionable then. I regret that earring, she admits.
Malysz won four World Championship golds and four Olympic medals (three silver and bronze) in his career. The Pole was number one in the World Cup no less than four times.
After his career ended in 2011, Malysz has worked for the Polish Ski Association.
