British-born actor-singer Jane Birkin has died at the age of 76. He was found Le Parisien – newspaper, on Sunday, lifeless from his home. Birkin lived most of his life in Paris.
Birkin canceled his music concerts earlier this year citing health reasons.
– I have always been an optimist and I know that I need time to perform for you, said Birkin in his press release in May.
Jane Birkin had a mild cerebral infarction in 2021, from which she recovered.
Birkin rose to prominence after starring in a 1960s horror film Blow-Up – after one kiss (1967). During his career, he had time to appear in many films, such as La fille prodigue (1981) and La pirate (1984) as well as Daddy Nostalgie (1990). Birkin recorded with Serge Gainsbourg in 1969 a song composed by Gainsbourg Je t’aime… moi non pluswho shuddered with his eroticism.
Birkin was married to a composer John Barry’s with whom he got Coverdaughter named He and Gainsbourg later formed a trendy couple of their time. In his career, he also had time to work as a director and screenwriter and worked in the theater in addition to films.
