Former child actress Daveigh Chase, best known for her role in the horror film TheRing and like Lilo’s voice Lilo & Stitchhas passed away. The American died on Tuesday at the age of 35, reports TMZ.

Chase developed sepsis after meningitis and blood poisoning, after which her organs stopped functioning. According to the American entertainment site, she was admitted to a hospital in Los Angeles earlier this month.

Chase made her mark at the age of 12 with her iconic role as the terrifying Samara Morgan who crawled out of the TV in TheRing. It earned her an MTV Award in 2003 in the best villain category. She is also known as the voice of Lilo in the Disney animated film Lilo & Stitch from 2002.

The actress also played guest roles in series such as Sabrina the teenage witch, Charmed, ER and CSI. She had a larger supporting role in the HBO series Big Love with Bill Paxton.

What is sepsis?

Sepsis is an intense immune response of the body to a pathogen, such as bacteria or viruses. For example, you can get sepsis from bladder, lung or meningitis. Sepsis leads to serious complaints that can damage organs. Without proper treatment it can be fatal.
