After Severe PneumoniaRalph Siegel Awakens from Coma

Things are looking up – at last!
After days filled with worry, there is now a positive sign regarding the health of Ralph Siegel (80). The successful composer is no longer in a medically induced coma, as confirmed by his wife, Laura Siegel, in an interview.

Doctors Induced Coma for Recovery

After suffering from a severe case of pneumonia, Siegel was placed in a medically induced coma at a Munich clinic in early July. This marks an important step on his road to recovery.

“The entire family is infinitely grateful and relieved that he has taken this first major step: The induced coma has been lifted, and he is awake,” Laura Siegel explained. Reports also show that his half-brother, Jörg Woltmann, visited him from Berlin. “He was very happy. We can already hold light conversations with him and are optimistic about the days to come,” she added.

Doctors Delayed the Awakening Process

This news brings great relief to family, friends, and fans alike. It was initially announced in early July that Ralph Siegel had to be treated in the intensive care unit due to severe pneumonia. To relieve his body, doctors placed him in a medically induced coma. Just a few days later, Laura Siegel explained that the originally planned awakening process had to be delayed to give his body more time to stabilize.

Now that Ralph Siegel is awake and capable of short conversations, this is considered a significant milestone. However, it is expected that he may still face a lengthy recovery process due to his severe illness.

The multiple award-winning composer is one of Germany’s most successful music creators. With songs like “Ein bisschen Frieden,” which brought Nicole the first German victory at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1982, he has made music history. Overall, Siegel has been represented at the ESC more than 20 times with his compositions.
