Langhoff died unexpectedly in Berlin on Monday morning – his 60th birthday – his agent Marketa Modra announced on Wednesday, citing his family.

“We say goodbye to a loving, humorous, helpful and kind man,” the family said in a statement. Langhoff was born in Berlin in 1962.

He trained at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts and then worked in the theater for many years, including at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin, the Thalia Theater in Hamburg and the Burgtheater in Vienna.

He later switched to television and took part in numerous films and series, such as “Tatort”, “Bad Banks” and most recently in “Babylon Berlin” and Edward Berger’s World War II drama “Nothing New in the West”. There Langhoff played the Prussian major general and military attaché Detlof Sigismund von Winterfeldt.

His father and grandfather already had a fondness for the theatre. Father Thomas Langhoff (1938-2012) was an actor and director. From 1991 to 2001 he worked, among other things, as artistic director and director at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin.

The grandfather, the important actor and director Wolfgang Langhoff (1901-1966), managed the Deutsches Theater from 1946 to 1963.
