Belgian actress Émilie Dequenne has died of rare cancer at the age of 43. Dequenne died on Sunday, March 16 at a hospital near Paris, and his family confirms the news agency to AFP.

In October 2023, Dequenne revealed that it would suffer from the adrenal cortex. It is a very rare disease and accounts for about 0.2 % of all cases of cancer. In Finland, the disease is observed in about ten patients a year.

Dequenne achieved success in his first movie appearance. He was awarded at the Cannes Film Festival in 1999 with the Best Actress Prize Rosettathe movie’s main role. Rosetta was rewarded at the festival with a golden palm.

Dequenne mainly played in French -speaking films. He won a number of other awards for, among other things, the 2009 movie La Fille du Rer (Engl. The Girl on the Train) and from the 2012 movie À perdre la Raison (Engl. Our Children).

His last job remained an English disaster film Survivepublished in 2024. After filming, his illness forced him to stop acting.

Dequenne got married to his acting spouse Michel Ferraccin With 2014. The couple has one child in common.
