FC Bayern left the Champions League. Thomas Müller had to listen to a lot from an opponent after the final whistle.
For Thomas Müller and FC Bayern, the dream of finale in their own stadium in the Champions League burst. On Wednesday evening, challenger Inter was enough for a 2-2 draw after the Italians had previously won 2-1. With the final whistle in the Guiseppe-Mazza Stadium, all dams broke. Fans cheered that players were in their arms – or provoked their opponent.
So in the case of Francesco Acerbi and Thomas Müller. After the final whistle, Acerbi made a gesture in the direction of the German world champion, formed his hand into a kind of beak that should possibly express that Müller had talked too much. The Bayern captain immediately stepped into direction and acerbi and confronted the central defender. Referee Slavko Vinčić intervened immediately and separated both players.
The scene could not be seen in the television pictures, but a fan from the stadium had filmed it and uploaded it into the net.
However, Müller didn’t have a great deal of speech after the game. He preferred to focus on himself and the departure of his team. At DAZN he said: “Of course we are disappointed. What does disappointed? I’m not really disappointed because in the end we just play football.” Müller continues: “I always rate games a bit for me personally: have I given everything? Can I look in the mirror? Did the team give everything? Then you can also look in the mirror.”
With the Bundesliga and the new club World Cup, Thomas Müller also has two competitions in which he can win titles with Bayern before the paths separate. At the club World Cup, Müller could then meet Acerbi and Inter again.
