While the band members of Faith No more still show support for their front man Mike Patton, it seems as if the door is slowly but surely going on to return to a return of Patton. Even though Patton has been on tour with his other band Mr. Bungle since the end of 2022. According to drummer Mike Bordin, Patton simply has no wish to perform with the band.

Singer Mike Patton withdraws – the band remains at a loss

In the Podcast “Let There be Talk” by Comedian Dean Delray, Bordin recently spoke about the current status of Faith No More, three years after the band had canceled all concerts planned for 2021. Before the cancellation, the band had rehearsed intensively for six months to prepare their first appearances in five years. But just a day and a half before the first concert, Patton decided to stay away from the rehearsal.

“It was very clear that at that time he was not physically able to play,” said Bordin. The band then decided to support their front man. “There will be a shit storm if we cancel 75 shows, but none of us wanted to be the one who breaks the neck and forces him to do something that he is not able to do. That was not even up for debate.”

Drummer Mike Bordin: “To be honest, I hurt me”

After Mike Patton used professional help, he finally returned to the stage since 2022 – but with his other band, Mr. Bungle. He even recovered in Germany, for the first time after 24 years.

This development at Bordin led to a personal disappointment: “It was no longer evident from playing the shows, of which it was no longer able to play with us,” explained Bordin. “This is a big difference. And we haven’t really talked about it. It doesn’t feel good for me. To be honest, it hurt me a bit, but that’s something personal. It’s a private thing. It is about business. We would never force someone to do something for which he is not able to do. And now it looks like it is more about doing it.” Despite this disappointment, Bordin is grateful for the time together with Patton.

Keyborder Roddy Bottum: “We are in a strange location”

The long -standing keyboardist Roddy Bottum also expressed himself briefly in October last year, but not very optimistic, and described the band as in a “kind of semi -permanent break”. In January, bassist Billy Gould informed the Chilean radio station Radio Futuro: “We are in a really strange situation, a really strange situation, and I honestly can’t tell you what exactly happens. I don’t know myself. I get different information from different people, and I am still part of the band.”

Health problems slowed down front man Mike Patton

Mike Patton joined Faith No more in 1988 and celebrated some of her greatest successes with the band. Since the end of 2015, the band has not played a concert with Patton. The last appearances of Faith No More took place in 2016 when the band came together in two special shows with the former singer Chuck Mosley – just a year before his death.

Originally, the band had planned to go back on a European tour in 2022 after their last appearances as part of the comeback album “Sol Invictus” (2015) have been back for six years. But in September 2021 the band decided to cancel all appointments. Patton apologized publicly and explained that the cancellation of his battered mental health and a tightening of his agoraphobia and alcohol problems, which had further deteriorated during the Covid 19 pandemic.
