Hamann brings a replacement for Eberl into play

As Bavaria’s sports director, Max Eberl gets a lot of criticism this summer. According to Didi Hamann, the record champion should strive for another specialist.
FC Bayern’s sporting leadership is still under observation. Sports board member Max Eberl in particular is repeatedly criticized – despite the last successful transfers. The 51-year-old was able to score to Tottenham with the commitment of Luis Díaz (28) for up to 75 million euros and the loan of João Palhinha (30), but the discussions about his future do not stop.
Sky expert Didi Hamann also commented on the situation with the German record champions-and clearly spoke out for a possible successor. In an interview with the “Bild” newspaper, Hamann recommends the Frankfurt sports director Markus Krösche (44), who is currently being praised nationwide for his transfer policy. In the past two years alone, Krösche has generated income of around 340 million euros at Eintracht Frankfurt.
In the area of FC Bayern, Krösche’s name therefore appears again and again. For Hamann he would be a suitable candidate: “If there was a sports director in Germany, where you say: If we need one, we cannot let it go through our rags, then he is now,” said the former international.
Hamann sees Eberl primarily in communication and contract management. Dealing with players like Alphonso Davies, Jonathan Tah or Joshua Kimmich was problematic. Eberl made offers without having the approval of the Supervisory Board secure. “View something like that,” said Hamann. The sports director must clarify what is possible internally beforehand.
Hamann also critically commented on the procedure for negotiations with Nick Woltemade. The player was free of charge a year ago and played in the third division. Now it is incomprehensible how Bavaria agreed on a change without prior consultation with the released club VfB Stuttgart. “You don’t need to be surprised if the prices go up. I have no understanding for that,” said Hamann.
The rumors about Eberl’s future at Bayern have been staying for months. It remains to be seen whether there will be changes in leadership after the ongoing transfer period.
