According to Damon Mirani, there was more to it against Heracles: “Give away that goal too easily”

FC Volendam scored one point tonight in the match against Heracles (1-1). Yet Volendam captain Damon Mirani thought there could have been more against the team from Almelo. “You get a good lead and then you concede that goal quite easily. That is the prevailing feeling in the dressing room,” said Mirani.

Volendam took a 1-0 lead in Almelo thanks to a beautiful goal by Lequincio Zeefuik. Heracles had possession of the ball and became the most dangerous. “We performed well in the first half and didn’t give much away. We just created far too little. Hopefully we will find something about that,” Mirani analyzed.

Things went wrong for FC Volendam in the second half. In the 64th minute, Jizz Hornkamp was able to tap in from close range for Heracles. “We give that goal away too easily.” Volendam became dangerous twice through Zach Booth, but in the second half it was mainly survival for the Volendam team. That worked and coach Regillio Simons’ team returned to Volendam with one point.

Today Mirani also returned to last week’s poor match. Then FC Volendam lost 1-0 to Almere City FC. “That was an incident. Today we showed that we have a team that fights every second. We must continue that and details must be improved to win matches.”
