The slippery roads resulted in several accidents in Drenthe this evening. Things went wrong in Assen, 1st Exloërmond and Eelde, among others.
A car left the road on the A28 exit near Assen-Noord. Various emergency services, including the fire brigade and ambulance, were alerted. The occupants were checked but no one was injured.
Three cars were involved in a rear-end collision on the Drentse Mondenweg near 1e Exloërmond. Two cars were seriously damaged and are being towed away by a recovery company. One lane is temporarily closed.
In Eelde, a van went off the road on Eekhoornstraat. That accident could also have happened due to the slippery road surface.
Code yellow has been issued by the KNMI until 11 a.m. Saturday morning. It can become very slippery, especially due to the freezing of wet road sections and the occasional winter shower. Especially at night, there is a very localized risk of icy rain during a shower.
