Academy for the Preservation of Crafts

The Italian fashion house Bottega Veneta has founded a new academy. The Accademia Labor et Ingenium underlines the fashion label’s commitment to traditional craftsmanship.

Named after the brand’s founding values of “craft and creativity,” the fashion academy will offer training, workshops and classes in the Italian cities of Montebello Vicentino and Povolaro Dueville, the label announced Monday. A central component of the academy is a comprehensive training program for 50 students per year, which also guarantees the students a job in the Bottega Veneta studios.

The training program is led by five master craftsmen and is designed to reflect the brand’s collaborative ethos since its founding in 1966. Leo Rongone, CEO of Bottega Veneta, emphasized in a statement the academy’s role in preserving the brand’s craftsmanship and nurturing future artisans. In an initial collaboration with the luav University in Venice, a seven-week career orientation course has begun at the academy. This partnership is the fashion house’s fourth collaboration with the Italian university.
