National striker Niclas Füllkrug is no longer happy in London. Will he now continue in Italy? A former teammate could accompany him.
Niclas and Niklas: According to the Italian “Gazzetta dello Sport”, AC Milan is trying to get German national players in a double pack. While negotiations with West Ham United about a loan from striker Niclas Füllkrug are said to be well advanced, Milan are also interested in signing Borussia Dortmund defender Niklas Süle.
The 30-year-old played his third game of the season for BVB on Friday in the 2-0 win against Borussia Mönchengladbach and played over 90 minutes for the first time. However, the sticking point in the efforts to recruit Süle, whose contract expires at the end of the season, is said to be the high salary.
The defender at least received support from BVB: “I’m glad I have him,” said coach Niko Kovač after the victory. Sports director Sebastian Kehl also emphasized: “Respect for the performance, Niki. How he handled it – even over 90 minutes. That can be highlighted as a really positive thing.”
According to “Gazzetta”, a loan deal for Füllkrug, who is rarely used at West Ham and wants to protect his World Cup chances, will be finalized on Monday. The ex-Bremer and former Dortmund player, who was also traded at VfL Wolfsburg, is supposed to replace the injured Mexican Santiago Giménez. As the pay TV broadcaster Sky reports, West Ham has already received a written offer: a six-month loan with an option to buy.
