After the game was abandoned in the Regionalliga Südwest, footballer Steffen Kienle from VfR Aalen, who was unconscious in the meantime, is doing “according to the circumstances”. The club announced this on Saturday. The game on Friday evening between TSG Hoffenheim II and Aalen was stopped after almost an hour in Sinsheim because the 28-year-old attacker Kienle hit the goal post during an attack and fell unconscious. The striker will remain in hospital for a few days for observation and further tests.
The Aalen team expressly thanked the Hoffenheim team doctor, the first aiders on site and the referee team for their quick action and help. “We assume that his chest hit the post. When I arrived the player was unconscious and didn’t respond. We quickly started resuscitation. Luckily he came right back,” Hoffenheim’s team doctor Yannic Bangert said in a statement from TSG.
