Aarre Elo was a grand old man in entertainment – he was awarded all the way abroad

Treasure Elo has been a major influence on entertainment since the 1960s.

Born in Helsinki on September 21, 1934 Aarre Elo slept away at the age of 87.

His career in entertainment began as a teenager in a movie theater, where he got to work in movies and later on television.

Treasure “Arska” Elo was one of the most important factors in Finnish television entertainment in the 1960s and 1970s, when television made a breakthrough in Finland.

Elo both wrote and directed the programs.

Elo started doing entertainment together Jukka Virtanen and Matti Kuuslan with. They became a group called VEK, which did several entertainment programs. Its best-known single program was Snow Castle, which won the Golden Rose of Montreaux in 1965.

The VEK entertainment group was from 1961 to 1967.

In 1967, the Extension Time, hosted by Elo, which dealt with social themes, began in Yle.

– I developed and wrote Overtime in New York. There was no single example of Overtime on American television, but Overtime was a combination of many programs, Elo reminded Iltalehti in 2017.

The program became a collective generation experience. One of the most talked about moments was seen in September 1968, when Vesa-Matti Loiri won the fall of the unofficial Finnish championship with his wild fall.

The overtime came from Yle every other Saturday, and since it was the last program of the evening, it did not have a well-defined duration. At its longest, it lasted more than 2.5 hours and dealt with everything from politics to miniskirts.

In addition to Aho, the program featured, among other things Lenita Airisto and Hannu Taanila.

Elo was also involved in musical entertainment. Life, Apeli Halinen and Jani Uhlenius and Jukka Virtanen founded the Songilo Group in the 1970s. It also came along Jukka Kahila.

Elo was also remarried and had a total of five children from his two unions. Daughter Maria Jungner is Yle’s television announcer.
