The A28 is littered with sugar beets near Ubbena due to an accident with a truck. Around 2:30 am, the beet truck’s semi-trailer overturned on the highway.
The accident will cause traffic disruption on the A28 until after the morning rush hour, Rijkswaterstaat expects.
The A28 is currently completely closed to traffic from Assen to Groningen. The truck’s trailer is lying across the road. A diversion has been set up at Assen via the N33 and N34.
Because the beet truck crashed through the central reservation, there is also inconvenience for traffic from Groningen to Assen. One lane in that direction is closed for the time being. This causes traffic jams. Around 8 a.m. there was a traffic jam of four kilometers, the delay increased to almost half an hour.
It is also extra busy on the diversion route and on shortcuts through Rolde, among others.
