Several emergency services are on site. It is still unclear what exactly happened. Rijkswaterstaat is busy with work until half past seven in the evening. It is still unclear whether the road will remain (completely) closed until then.

The accident happened at the point where the parallel runway and the main carriageway meet. As a result, traffic cannot drive around the accident via the parallel lane. That causes a lot of delay.

Detour
Traffic from Maastricht must therefore take into account extra travel time and a diversion, Rijkswaterstaat reports. A diversion route has been set up from the Leenderheide junction towards Utrecht via the A67, A73, A50 and A15.
