Cubes of apples are placed inside the soft, finger-sticky bun, which brings a zesty flavor to the taste.

This bun needs to be baked, because it can be resisted, states the food editor Mari Moilanen Something tasty in his blog.

– It’s incredibly good. Especially when the bun contains fresh, red apple cubes in addition to cinnamon, sugar, vanilla and butter.

A sticky surface is of course the best. Cream cheese, butter and maple syrup are used to make a wonderful frosting that can be poured over the bun and spooned into the mouth as it is.

Tip! If you omit the egg from the bun dough, the sticky bun will be really soft.

Apple sticky bun

3 dl of milk

1 tsp dry yeast

1 dl cane sugar

1 teaspoon of salt

1/2 tbsp cardamom

10 dl spelled wheat flour

75 g soft butter

Filling:

1 3/4 dl cane sugar

1 tablespoon of cinnamon

1 teaspoon of real vanilla

6 tablespoons of room temperature butter

2-3 small apples

Maple Syrup Frosting:

2 tablespoons room temperature butter

75 g of cream cheese

1/2 dl maple syrup

2172 – 3 dl powdered sugar

2 teaspoons of real vanilla

1. Heat the milk slightly warmer than hand temperature, i.e. to about 42 degrees. Mix dry yeast with a deciliter of flour. Add cane sugar, cardamom and salt to the milk. Mix in the flour-dry yeast mixture.

2. Add the rest of the flour to the dough in small batches. Finally, add soft butter. Knead the dough carefully until it comes away from the sides of the bowl. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.

3. Cut the apples into small cubes, mix the filling with cane sugar and spices. Roll the dough into a disk. Spread soft butter, apple cubes and sugar mixture on top of the dough. Roll and cut into 12 pieces.

4. Place the pieces in a greased baking dish and let rise for another 20 minutes. Bake in a 180-degree oven until cooked, i.e. for about 30-35 minutes.

5. Prepare the frosting. Measure the butter and cream cheese into a bowl and beat the ingredients with a hand mixer until smooth. Add maple syrup and vanilla. Add powdered sugar to the frosting, whisking all the time, until you get a soft, spreadable frosting. Spread the frosting on a lukewarm bun and enjoy.
