A trap has been placed behind the fish passage at the Nauerna pumping station. Hollands Noorderkwartier Water Board can thus see which fish use it. “That depends on the season,” Jeroen Spierings explains.
Jeroen works as a fish expert for the Water Board. “In the spring, young eels, the so-called glass eels, want to enter the polder. In the autumn, it is the sticklebacks that migrate.” Natural North Holland watches the catch over the fisherman’s shoulder.
