This is how Carlos Sainz reacted on the team radio after hearing about the penalty. F1 can be watched on Elisa Viihde Viaplay and v Sport channels.

Carlos Sainz was a very disappointed man after the Australian GP.

Ferrari’s Spanish star was stuck in fourth place in the eventful race, until another restart ruined everything.

Sainz acted as the catalyst for the scrap rally by bumping his compatriot Fernando Alonso After Aston in the opening corner. The race was stopped after a while for the third time, when there were cars all over the track.

After thinking about it for a while, the competition jury decided to start the competition once more. The starting (and finishing) order was decided on the Results list before the crash, minus the drivers who dropped out.

Begging

But the drama didn’t end there. Just before the start, Sainz found out that he had received a five-second time penalty for a collision with Alonso.

Since the last lap of the race was driven behind the safety car in a tight bunch, it meant that Sainz dropped from fourth place out of the points.

The Spaniard understood this himself. A TV camera captured the moment when Sainz learned of his sanction. After a while, the broadcast heard a man’s outpouring on the subject.

– We received a five-second time penalty, the race engineer noted the situation.

– No. Can not be. I fall outside the points. No. Unforgivable. This is inexcusable. They have to talk to me, wait until the end of the race and then talk to me,” Sainz began.

– No. Please, please, please, please. Tell them to wait. I want to talk to them. This punishment does not serve its purpose, Sainz pleaded.

In the end, Sainz’s hit on Alonso didn’t spoil the older Spaniard’s day. He rose back to third with the results.

The biggest sufferer in the rerun was Alpine. Both of its cars were left on the side of the track and the big points pot evaporated into the air like smoke.

Forced appearance

The restart at the end of the race ended in chaos. PDO

Sainz, visibly exhausted, had not calmed down even after the race.

– I don’t really want to talk to you. I only came here to the press box because otherwise I would get another punishment. I want to talk about the situation to the judges, Sainz stated to F1TV before his quick exit.

The race was miserable for Ferrari. Charles Leclerc the race ended in the opening lap on the sand.
