A spectacular Pyromusical puts the finishing touch to Mercè 2022

  • Rome, feminism, operas, peace and party are the 5 great themes of the soundtrack

The Piromusical de la Mercè has returned to its Iconic format on Maria Cristina Avenue, with the Magic Fountain dancing to the rhythm of fireworks centralized in Montjuïc and with a soundtrack designed expressly for the occasion. Gone, then, are the two years of pandemic in which the show had to reinvent itself with a decentralization that dissuaded the crowds, but made the choreography of light and sound very difficult.

The 2022 edition has been the reunion: the Show closing ceremony returns ‘home’ just like the nearly 90,000 people who have a personal tradition of going in person to see it. Likewise, the deployment of technical and human resources that makes this unrivaled activity possible in the Barcelona festive calendar returns. The musical themes have returned to reflect the present: Rome for this year’s guest city, the rise of feminism, operas for the 175th anniversary of the Liceu, peace for Ukraine and a party to bid farewell to La Mercè.

In the 30 minutes that it lasts, the show has burned up to 1,373.03 kilos of pyrotechnic material spread over 15,000 shots. It has used 10,000 meters of cable and has fired cannons of up to 200 mm caliber. The rockets reached a maximum height of 200 meters and they were lit and launched from 120 positions, installed in a 12,000 m2 space that closes to the public two days before. A team of 21 technicians has made it possible for another edition.
