A son: the review of the film by Mehdi Barsaoui

UNO SON
Type: Drama ✦✦✦
Direction by Mehdi Barsaoui. With Sami Bouajila, Najla Ben Abdallah, Youssef Khemiri

Sami Bouajila and Najla Ben Abdallah in the film “A son”.

During a terrorist attack, the son of a couple on vacation in southern Tunisia is seriously injured. The need for a transplant puts a strain on the presumption of paternity and the marital crisis breaks out at the most tragic moment.

Intimate and political drama at the same time: the Arab Spring is in the background (we are in 2011) and elections, with the Islamist threat, are an option in the immediate future.

The solitude of Fares and Meriem, a modern and privileged couple, struggling with a patriarchal past that has never been archived, is touching. First work and actors to scream: Sami Bouajila winner of Horizons in Venice and at César 2021.
