Benjamin Key was in a really tough place in Mikkeli.
He enrolled in the world’s strongest soldier race, but at that time he did not know all the sports.

– However, I have met incredible people here. I also wanted to test this sport as I think it makes no sense just to give up and not do anything. My mind said I could do this, but my blood vessel, my lungs and my hearts disagreed. However, I am not disappointed because I knew what was coming.

Key says that even though this is not the traditional strongest man, the military trajectory is a really good test for soldiers.
– They have to be fine when they run to the battlefield.
– For me, you can say I’m just happy when this kind is behind.
The species surprised

Key was invited to the race power legend Ilkka Kinnunen through.
– It came with a tight schedule. I know I’m not the best soldier in Britain for this race, but I still wanted to come even though I’m an old man. I was completely surprised when I saw the obstacle course involved.
– We have much younger and tough men who can do much better than me. Next year, the situation is completely different when the race becomes better known to people.

He says he has done fitness and physics demanding performance last 20 years ago.
– However, everything is relative. Two weeks ago, I pulled two matching trucks. Both are really tough species, but only differently.
“Felt shocking”

The results of a seven-sport competition are not yet revealed, as the TV series will be filmed in the race, where the overall winner will survive.

– The army wants to be able to advance from point A to point B and perform the tasks assigned along the way.
– Some would certainly have left this species in my situation, but I think it’s good to think that if you put their name underneath, then the task will be done. Every person served in the army thinks the same way. That’s why other competitors have had a great atmosphere from the start. We have all served and think the same way. Many others could have come here instead of me, but I’m happy that I’m here.

However, after the first two dawn, Key was promising species requiring raw power. However, in the truck, he faced a really ruthless challenge because the first performance was ruined by the truck’s brake problem. However, the vehicle also started with another stroke, even though there was already one fierce performance below.
– I am pleased that the truck was moving the other time. The grip does not withstand two companies when the rope is so thick. I can’t say how much I would have got a truck if the first attempt had not had any problems, but certainly as far as other guys. The main thing is that I got a new company, Key says.
Air Force Military Master
Ben quickly impressed in Mikkeli with his cheerful and social nature.
He started working in the army in 1999 and retired in 2024 as a military master of the British Royal Air Force.
He had 62 subordinates in a tactical communication department that supported the airport and provided services such as Iraq and Ukraine.
“Actually, we provided support for all areas where it happened,” he describes.

Today, she works as a lecturer at a school offering instruction for young people aged 16-19 who are considering joining the army or wanting to work as a police officer, firefighter or prisoner.
Key is now in Finland for the first time. Competitors stay at Army Hostell, the former Savon Brigade area.
– The accommodation is really great. The food is good and when you look out, you have the right scenery in front of you, trees and everything. It’s pretty nice. A bit like a land.
“I hope the war will end”
Key, the Russian invasion war in Ukraine, has a direct opinion.
– I see no reason for the attack. I don’t see why Russia had to attack. I just hope the war ends.
The war has continued for years as a crushing tragedy.
– I can’t say how to stop it. If I knew the solution, I would definitely put the lottery to pull and win a few million.
