Using the hashtag #MFiron150users of social networks Twitter, Instagram and Facebook will be able to enjoy the recitation of the reading of the “Martin Fierro”, from October 3 to 24, from Monday to Saturday, at the rate of one song per day. The proposal of the Jose Hernández Popular Art Museum is to celebrate the century and a half of life of the most representative gaucho work of our country.

The launch of the virtual reading campaign will take place in person at the Museum itself, located at Avenida del Libertador 2373, on Friday, September 30 at 7:00 p.m., with the company of the historian Lucian of Privitellio. The digital celebration is organized by the literature teacher Sebastian Noejovichthe writer Esteban Castroman and the student Marina Tabasso.

The organizers estimate that participation in social networks is carried out through illustrations, videos, music, recitations and performances. Even the current trend of urban rap and hip hop complement each other very well with the voice of the outcast gaucho, who more than a century ago needed to be heard and whose main tools were words and music.

In 1872, Joseph Hernandez published the canonical work of gaucho poetry and its extraordinary dissemination reached that “The Gaucho Martin Fierro”, be considered the representative of Argentine literature before the local and international public. The epic of the fugitive gaucho, the lack of social protection and the family drama were present in each verse of the book. The sequel came seven years later with “The return of Martin Fierro”in which he introduces us to the protagonist, now a legend, back in civilization in search of his family.

The edition of the Martin Fierro saga began a revival of the gaucho poem at the end of the 19th century. Born as protest rhymes of Creole rural peons against the Spanish in colonial times, the writer Jose Hernández consolidated a trend that would be accompanied by similar novels and themes. “Faust” by Estanislao del Campo, “Juan Moreira” by Eduardo Gutierrez Y “Santos Vega” by Rafael Obligado. the same Jorge Luis Borges He made a critical study of the work, together with Margarita Guerrero.

The adaptation in the social context, the legal injustices and the abuses of the repressive forces of the state, also inspired other writers, in the middle of 2022, to pay tribute to the famous gaucho. “Martin Fierro, XXI century”is the novel by Marcelo Birmajer and his son Simon Birmajer, edited by Edhasa, which contextualizes the feat in current times.
