The rock landscape of the USA would be a damn dull, humor-free zone without this band. When J. Mascis, Lou Barlow and Murph step onto a stage, they look like the most bored people in the world. But the very first notes of this infernal trio unleash a sound that strikes the most beautiful melodic sparks out of noise. Dinosaur Jr. sounds like some hardcore 80’s punks fell into a honeypot full of big star songs. Listing all of the Amherst, Massachusetts band’s fabulous records is beyond the scope of this post. Just this much: Mascis and Co. draw live from a discography spanning 40 years.
