A PARTICULAR fun outing: visit a beekeeper during the National Open Beekeeping Days 2023

Have you ever tasted honey from Zoetermeer? If not, you can catch up on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 July during the National Open Beekeeping Days 2023! Have you ever tasted it? Then the umpteenth time can’t hurt!

Did you know that there are more than 20,000 different bee species in the world? In the Netherlands you will find about 360 species (source: KRO-NCRV). Are you curious how many bees are flying around your street? You can check that here.

National Open Beekeeping Days

The black and yellow bugs also fly in and around Zoetermeer, but what are they actually good for? Most people know that they provide honey, but a bee does so much more. Did you know, for example, that the fruit and vegetable department is only one third full without pollinating insects, according to the Dutch Beekeepers Association.

In Zoetermeer you can visit a few local beekeepers:

  • Beekeeping De Honingpot, Tichelberg 14, Sunday 9 July 13:30 – 16:30
  • De Bijenstal at city farm Het Buitenbeest on the Voorweg, Saturday 8 July 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Orchard Hof van Seghwaert, Gaardedreef 169, Saturday 8 July 10.00 – 15.30
