A monstrous family: the plot of the movie
Luna (Emanuela Rei) and Adalberto (Cristiano Caccamo) are two off-site students who love each other deeply. Living away from home, they do not know each other’s families and their relationship is tested when the two they discover they are expecting a child. Indeed Adalbert will be “forced” to introduce the girl to his noble family. So far so good, except that the parents are hiding a terrible secret: they are monsters in all respects.

In fact, Adalberto’s family is precisely a cross between the Addams and the protagonists of Freaks Out by Gabriele Mainetti but the real monstrosity is that of Luna’s parents, the very forced spouses played by Lillo and a wild Ilaria Spada. Which, throughout the second part of the film, they give away the funniest momentsi, although it is a “bitter” smile.

net of a first part that is struggling to take off – the one that tells of the love between the two young people – in the second the film plays its best cards. Not only thanks to a group of actors in a state of grace but also to gods great special effects (which is rare for an Italian film) ea a final message of inclusiveness, and against stereotypes, that touches the heart. So despite some small stumbling blocks, A monstrous family it’s a excellent example of Italian fantasy-grotesque with something important to say.
The second artistic life of Lillo
