A migrant child seriously injured alone after being shot in the Ceuta neighborhood of El Príncipe

Agents of the Ceuta National Police have opened an investigation to try to clarify the circumstances in which an unaccompanied foreign minor sheltered by the Child Protection Service of the Autonomous City has been shot this Saturday afternoon in the neighborhood of Prince Alfonso.

The gunshot wounded minor is hospitalized in serious condition. Police sources have explained to Europa Press that the event occurred around 6:00 p.m. in the souk area of that suburban neighborhood, where “one or more detonations” of firearms would have occurred.

At least one shot has hit the 15-year-old boy on the side, for which he has had to be transferred to the University Hospital, located just one kilometer away, by ambulance. The boy is going to undergo surgery and it is not ruled out that his evacuation to the peninsula is necessary.

Among the points to be clarified is whether the shot was directed at the boy, who was visiting relatives during a scheduled departure from the center where he is sheltered, or if it was a ‘stray bullet’.

At dawn from Friday to Holy Saturday last year, a 16-year-old minor from Ceuta died after being shot in the head as he was leaving the Príncipe neighborhood on a motorcycle. In the same neighborhood, last October a 37-year-old soldier was fatally shot in an underground garage.
