On Monday, the restaurant Vår from Porvoo received the coveted Michelin star at an event organized in Turku. Iltalehti’s reporter who is there tells about it Eeva Paljakka.

Vår’s restaurateur Niko Lehto received recognition at the ceremony.

– Porvoo is a small town near Helsinki, and this seems to be the first year that we have visited Porvoo at all, Lehto said.

– It’s amazing to be here representing the next generation. Thanks to all the guys who have worked and put Porvoo on the world map.

At Monday’s gala, Michelin recognitions have also been awarded to other Nordic countries.

Ravintola Vår says on its website that the restaurant bases its operations on the surrounding nature, the archipelago and local facilities. The restaurant strives to spread the message of modern Finnish cuisine: the menus focus on the local ingredients of the current season.
