A hiker survives a 40-meter fall down a ravine in Vall d’en Bas

The Generalitat Bombers have rescued this Saturday afternoon a woman who had fallen down a ravine between 30 and 40 meters while walking through the Salt de Sallent -the largest waterfall in Catalonia, with 115 meters- of the Vall d’en Basin the Garrotxa region.

The hiker, conscious, was injured and had to be extracted with a rescue maneuver made with a crane from a helicopter.

The accident notice was received at 2:59 p.m. The Firefighters activated two helicopters with the Group of Special Performances (THANK YOU) and a doctor from Medical Emergencies System (SEM).

The woman has been treated in the first instance by a doctor at the scene of the event. Subsequently, the hiker has been transferred to a hospital and, despite the strong impact she has received, she does not fear for her life.
