A criminal gang murdered a Dutch crypto millionaire in Spain in April. Spanish police arrested five people in Málaga this week on suspicion of kidnapping and killing the 37-year-old Dutchman. The Dutchman was kidnapped in April in the southern Spanish city of Mijas, near Málaga, when he and his 29-year-old Colombian girlfriend went to pick up the keys to an estate where they planned to live, the Spanish newspaper writes. El Pais.
Four men in black tried to force them into a car. When the Dutchman tried to flee, he was shot in the leg, his girlfriend told the Spanish police in a statement. He was then held in a house for hours. The gang members tried to gain access to his crypto wallet.
Around midnight, the criminals released the 29-year-old woman, but the Dutchman remained missing. His body was eventually found twenty days later, after an extensive search, by a local resident in a wooded area in the city of Mijas, bled to death from the gunshot wound in his leg.
The Spanish police have carried out six house searches in Madrid and Málaga, where, among other things, two firearms were seized.
Crypto millionaires are increasingly becoming victims of kidnappings and attempted thefts. For example, several kidnapping attempts have been made in France this year. Criminals do not hesitate to use violence and want millions of euros in ransom, paid in crypto.
