Finland should not lose to Switzerland on home ice.

Leijonat lost the opening game of the EHT tournament in Tampere and the opening game of the entire season to Switzerland with numbers 3–1.

Jesse Puljujärvi, who is in the center of great attention, was caught in the spotlight in the first game of his career at the Nokia Arena.

– There were very few shots today. Somehow it felt like a bit of a boring game, and I don’t really know why that was. Maybe we lacked a bit of rhythm. There were very few direct attacks today, there were some chances from end games. You have to overcome your own struggles, that’s where the places come from.

Few people

If Finland’s game was blocked in the opening game of the season, Tampere’s crowd was also down. Only 8,146 spectators arrived at the Nokia Arena to support Puljujärvi and partners.

“Pulju” did not blame the audience.

– By boring, I meant that there were hardly any shots, especially in the second set. We need to get more shots and momentum on goal. Didn’t know about those audience things in the game.

The 193-centimeter winger played in Finland after a break of many years.

– It was nice to be able to play. It’s my first time here at Nokia Arena. This is a good setting and a nice hall. It was nice to play. There are still a couple of games to come this weekend.

Czech Republic on Saturday

Finland will face the Czech Republic on Saturday. Puljujärvi promises a more upbeat lion team for that game.

– It definitely is. It can’t stop there. Yes, I think that we will take steps forward and everyone will do little things better, so it will be good. The opponent is probably quite different.

Are you thinking of scoring a goal on Saturday?

– Well, let’s start with the first shot to get it. There must have been none today, Puljujärvi, who plays for the Geneva-Servette team in Switzerland, grinned.
