According to reports, the corpses of Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa were still not picked up and buried even a month after their death. Due to the initially suspicious find of the corpses, they had to be examined and autopsy. In this way, originally suspected carbon monoxide poisoning could be excluded as the cause of death.
The circumstances for the death of Gene Hackman could be clarified
As the investigation showed, Betsy Arakawa died on February 11th in the consequences of a rare Hantavirus infection in her bathroom. Her husband, who suffered from Alzheimer’s, apparently lived in the house with her body for a week. The 93-year-old Hackman died of a cardiovascular disease on February 18, which was found on the last day that was recently active that day.
Why have not yet been picked up?
According to “TMZ”, the corpses were still not picked up by the family members. The reason for this is currently not known. However, it is possible that the plans for the funeral have not yet been determined. Unexplained inheritance matters could also be an occasion. Hackman had three children together with his ex-wife Faye Maltese, who died in 2017. According to “NME”, however, he left this out in his will and named Arakawa as the sole heir.
After the actor’s death became known, his children and granddaughter emitted the following explanation: “He was loved and admired by millions of people around the world for his brilliant acting career, but for us he was only dad and grandfather. We are painfully missed and are destroyed.”
