Star chef Soenil Bahadoer (57) will open a new restaurant this summer. The restaurant with the name Gem will be in the historic gatehouse of Gemert Castle. The chef and the owner of the castle, Bas van de Laar, will report this together in a press release on Thursday.
At the beginning of this year, Bahadoer announced that he would stop his two -star restaurant De Lindehof in Nuenen. That restaurant will close May 1. About his future, he remained vague: “We are going to start a new chapter. I just want to go a level higher, one more time.”
That popping again must happen with gem. The new restaurant gets forty to fifty seats.
“With the opening of GEM, visitors get a taste of the ultimate luxury that awaits the guests of the future five -star superior hotel,” said the initiator and estate owner Bas van de Laar.
The name gem where Bahadoer continues his career refers to Gemert, but also refers to the English word ‘gem’, which means so much as ‘something that is very good, pleasant, or useful’.
