For biathlon superstar Ingrid Landmark Teldrevold, the season is over earlier than expected.
As the Norwegian biathlon association announced in a press release, Ingrid Landmark Tangrevold ends her season prematurely.
The 28-year-old canceled her planned start at the national championships at the weekend. The background is an operation on the almonds.
“The plan was to carry out this operation later this spring, but when the chance already came up, we thought it was smart to use it,” said national team doctor Aasne Fenne Hoksrud.
Tangrevold emphasized: “I was really looking forward to the Norwegian championships. I had some health challenges this year and now I really want to try to put my health in order before I look ahead.”
In order to be with full forces for the Olympic year 2026, it makes sense to get the operation behind as soon as possible, the four-time world champion emphasized.
In the overall World Cup, Tankrevold had landed on a disappointing 27th place this season. The Norwegian had always failed due to illness. If she started, she could rarely deliver.
Resignation? Statements by biathlon star provide vortex
Most recently, Tankrevold made you take notice with statements about a career end. “We will see,” she answered “Aftonbladet” ambiguously when asked about her sporting future.
“At the moment I don’t feel a great motivation for a complete new training year. I have the feeling that I invested a lot of work last year, but I only got very little back. Then you get to a point where you feel: How much should I put in if it does not produce any results?”, The Norwegian continued.
