Alphonso Davies is injured for months. The cruciate ligament rupture diagnosis came as a surprise-now the Canadian association has reacted.

The news about Alphonso Davies’s cruciate ligament rupture was surprising on Wednesday (why, read here). The Bayern star injured himself against the USA in an international match from Canada. But the injury was worse than initially accepted – that triggered discussions and allegations. Davies consultant Nedal Huoseh severely accused the Canadian association. The latter now reacted to this – and countered the criticism.

Media director Paulo Senra said according to the agreed media reports: “The trainers and the experienced medical staff from Canada Soccer are real professionals and have always put the security and well -being of the players in their first place. Everyone who claims the opposite is wrong.”

Huoseh recently told the media group “Münchner Merkur/TZ”: “I was surprised that he started because he had announced that he was unable to start.” Then he said with a view to Canada’s national coach: “In my opinion, Jesse Marsch would have had to better master the situation, that could have been prevented 100 %.”

He also stated: “Before his time in Canada, Jesse was a professional coach at the highest level and should know exactly that you shouldn’t take any risk with players if they tell you that they cannot play.”

According to “The Athletic”, Davies himself was ready for an assignment. He had informed march that he wanted to feel fit enough and play.
