The ice hockey hope continues to live in Bremerhaven: With a 4: 3 victory after an intensive game, the penguins pick up in the best-of-Seven quarter-final series to 2: 3.
Sometimes everything is a question of faith in sport. Resignation could be acknowledged that there has been no club in the 30-year history of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) so far to shoot a 0: 3 deficit in the play-offs. But somehow that is not in the DNA of the Fischtown Penguins.
The team from Bremerhaven was already successful on Monday evening in the fourth game against the first match ball of the Cologne Haie with success and a 5-2 victory. “We firmly believe that we can still turn the series,” emphasized Ziga Jeglic combative. And so they performed on Wednesday evening in front of a home backdrop in the Eisarena Bremerhaven. Bit -ichsig and wildly determined. And were rewarded with the 4: 3 victory at the end of an intensive evening.
It was a really hard game, very intense. But we scored the goals at the right time and are happy about this second victory. It continues on Friday.

Three hits in the first third
Full of use on the ice: Both teams pushed on a goal with great pressure.
And so the penguins started pushing, urged the first goal-and that was achieved: Matthew Abt scored from the middle of the 12th minute to 1-0 lead. But just three minutes later, the humorless answer from Cologne Alexandre Grenier, who hammered the puck past keeper Kreister Gudlevskis into the network.
In this first third, however, it was different than last in the fourth game when the ice hockey karma seemed to have conspired against the penguins. Because less than 60 seconds later, Nicholas Jensen with his very first play-off gate even included the 2-1 lead.
The sharks succeeds 2-2
The Cologne sharks seemed shocked for a moment and then gave the penguins a huge gift. Gregor Macleod received a double punishment and the Cologne team was outnumbered. However, the Bremerhaveners did not appreciate the power play. The sharks bissen and took themselves against the next goal with a high effort.
It remained an intensive game in the second third and the penguins were lucky in the 27th minute that Justin Schütz’s cracker only landed on the crossbar and not online. The sharks increased the pressure and the nerves were now often bare. First the fists flew, then two players off the ice. The penguins also led, but not long.
I am happy and extremely proud of the team as they fought today. The atmosphere in the hall whipped us back and we want to fight for another home game.

The sharks remained snappy
From the second third, the fists often flew on the ice.
A Bremerhavener prevented Juhani Tyrväinen in the 36th minute on goal shot – penalty for Cologne. And Greiner also converted his second goal ice cold and equalized to 2: 2. The sharks now go full throttle, wanted to pull the momentum onto their side. But when it comes to everything, the penguins captain is relating.
Jan Urbas hammered the puck by direct acceptance to the 3-2 lead shortly before the end of the third end. The majority used again, his first play-off goal this season was all the more important. But the sharks had not given up on this evening and it should be a gripping third of the final: again power play, another goal-Josh Currie succeeded in the 50th minute of 3: 3 equalization.
Jan Urbas becomes a double savior
The emotional roller coaster ride for the penguins fans in the hall mercilessly went into the next round. But they didn’t have to tremble long because Jan Urbas delivered again. Just a minute later, the captain hammered the puck to 4: 3 online with full force. The cheers in the ice arena exploded.
But the final siren was still not sound. The minutes ticked down, every mistake could now be punished. And for the penguins it was still about survival in this quarter -final series. Then finally the relief in the ice arena – for the deadly penguins, it continues on Friday evening.
