A team of police specialists searched for various places in Heerhugowaard on Wednesday morning. In addition, a house, vehicles and bank accounts were seized. These are stored so that any damage caused by the art robbery can be recovered from the suspects. Fireworks have also been seized.
In the searched buildings it has also been searched for instructions and evidence. The stolen treasures were therefore not found during the searches. Also, no suspects were found in the buildings.
The research is still in full swing. The police work together with the Romanian OM and the police.
Possible damage claim of millions
The art robbery took place in the night of January 24 to January 25. The perpetrators stole several archaeological top pieces from Romania, including the golden helmet of Coțofene greenti from the fifth century BC. In addition, they brought three gold bracelets.
The art treasures are still without a trace. If the golden helmet and bracelets are not recovered, the Dutch government can expect a claim of 5.8 million euros.
