In the last test before the European Championship finals, the German U21 national team achieved a strong victory against Spain. The DFB selection won 3-1 (1: 1) in Darmstadt on Tuesday thanks to three beautiful goals from Nick Woltemade. Antonio di Salvo’s team became a clear title candidate at the latest with this appearance. The European Championship will take place in Slovakia from June 11th to 28th.
Already in the 4th minute Woltemade took the lead with a dream goal. The Stuttgarter initiated an attack on the center line, played a double pass with Paul Nebel from the 1st FSV Mainz on the left and praised the ball and lagged into the goal with an enormous feeling from a half -left penalty area. Part of the hit was also thanks to the Mönchengladbacher Rocco Reitz, who left Nebels passed through.
The German selection acted four days after the 1-0 win among the Slovak European Championship guards with a high pressing and quickly developed further opportunities. The largest had Brajan Gruda (Brighton & Hove), whose placed shot on the goal line was fended off by a Spaniard with the elbow. The German players reclaimed briefly handball to let the decision of the Greek referee Wasilios Fotias continue to run, was quickly accepted.
Spain compensates with dusel
The Spaniards equalized with some dusel: Erik Martel stumbled in the penalty area center when attempting a defense. Captain Gabri Veiga caught the ball and closed into the far corner from a half -left position. Germany’s keeper Noah Atubolu saw the ball late and had no chance.
The pace also stays up after the change of sides. Di Salvo’s team acted ball -safe, concentrated and above all very committed. So it was not surprising that the next nicely played goal came out of the game soon: fog started on the left and fitted sharply to the five -meter room. The angular and yet elegantly moving Woltemade – 1.98 m tall and 90 kg – took the ball, turned around his own axis at lightning speed and sank the ball flat in the goal.
Woltemade makes Friendly to the gala
Later, Ansgar Knauff narrowly moved into a low -back right position with a low shot. But when Spain wanted to avert the impending victory with a four-way change, “Big Nick” struck again: In the event of a quick advance over the right side, Woltemade was positioned centrally. Jens Castrop (1. FC Nürnberg), which had just been substituted, flanked the ball with a good eye to the storm center, where the long striker took the ball with a head and hunted under the crossbar (79.). Di Salvo gave the attacker of VfB the special applause of the 16,000 spectators in Darmstadt shortly before the end of the game.
Germany has to deal with England, Slovenia and the Czech Republic at the U21 European Championship finals. A total of 16 nations compete.
D -minkonflicts threaten
However, at the tournament in Slovakia for some players from Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, a schedule of schedule could result in the parallel club World Cup (June 14th to July 13th) in the USA. “It is not ideal. But the clubs can’t help it and and the DFB,” said Völler, “of course there will also be a few conversations.”
