Lou JeanMonnot was able to celebrate a victory in the military games in Lucerne two days after the dramatic final in the Biathlon World Cup.
Lou JeanMonnot prevailed over 7.5 kilometers at the biathlon event in Switzerland in the sprint thanks to an error-free shooting performance. Natalia Sidorowicz (+21.4 seconds/zero shooting errors) from Poland and Samuela Comola (+51.7 seconds/a shooting error) from Italy completed the podium.
JeanMonnot can look back on a successful biathlon season 2024/25. The 26-year-old was able to win a total of eight World Cup races. At the World Cup in Lenzerheide, the French woman won the gold medal in the season and mixed relay. Bronze jumped out in singles.
However, JeanMonnot was denied the big crowning glory. The ski hunter fought a gripping duel with Franziska Preuß in the overall World Cup, which was only decided in the final competition.
The two biathletes went to the final round in the mass start of Oslo. JeanMonnot fell shortly before the finish, Prussia won and ultimately fetched the large crystal ball (The highlights are available in the video above). The two opponents then showed great sports spirit.
German biathlon stars also at the start
While Preuss then traveled back to Munich, JeanMonnot went to Lucerne for the military games.
The military games take place for the fifth time and are under the motto “Military Champions for Peace” this year. In Lucerne, in addition to biathlon competitions, which are also held in cross-country skiing, para cross-country skiing, sports climbing or Parachute-Ski.
Germany’s second best biathlete Justus Strelow, 16th in the overall World Cup, also goes to the trail at the event in Switzerland. Philipp Horn (23rd), the IBU Cup participant Lucas Fratzscher and Youngster Fabian Kaskel also take part.
